Health Carousel Establishes Charitable Foundation to Support the Global Nursing Workforce

Foundation to support organizations and causes that promote nurse development and sustainability globally.

February 23, 2023 (Cincinnati, OH) - Health Carousel, LLC, a leading healthcare staffing and workforce solutions company, announced the formation of a charitable foundation to promote nurse training, development, and sustainability efforts globally. The Health Carousel board of directors has provided substantial funding to support the foundation's efforts.

Before forming the foundation, Health Carousel had already been lighting the way in developing and supporting various nurse sustainability and training efforts worldwide. For example, in 2022, the company provided 5,700 hours of free nurse development training, sponsored 11 master's of nursing education scholarships, and underwrote dozens of nursing recognition awards in partnership with the DAISY Foundation. In total, 2022's efforts contributed hundreds of nurses to the global nursing supply. The formation of the Health Carousel Foundation will allow further investment into the global nursing workforce in 2023 and beyond.

"Health Carousel's mission is to make healthcare work better for providers, facilities, and patients, and having an adequate and well-trained nursing workforce is key to making improvements," stated Andrew Lingo, foundation executive director. "Our ongoing investment in nursing has been lighting the way towards improved healthcare globally. Therefore, we created LightTheWay.com to highlight the foundation's efforts and accomplishments and Health Carousel, LLC's ethical recruitment initiatives."

Investments in the global nursing workforce, like those from the Health Carousel Foundation, have never been more needed. The global pandemic has deeply scarred the nursing workforce. For example, in the U.S., the nurse shortfall could top four hundred thousand by 2025. And in the Philippines, widely considered the leader in supplying the global nursing workforce, a shocking forty percent of nurses in private hospitals have resigned since the pandemic began.

In addition to Executive Director Andrew Lingo, Erik Schumann, Health Carousel COO, will serve as the foundation's president. The foundation also intends to add an advisory board of nursing leaders in 2023.
